This rendition makes me think of Samson in Judges - probably starts with the pillar imagery, but a lot of the rest of the Psalm lines up with other points in his story (issues of pride, people raging against God and his judge, God being the one in control, etc.). Lot of parallels to mull over.

I just lost two of my dearest friends this week, and this rendition of Psalm 75 is perfect for me today, especially these lines:

"Let the last word be thanks.

Walk us in wonder to the brink

Of your unfurling works—

The long, last, true

Tallest tale of your wisdom.

. . .

But I won’t hurtle any longer

Down the path that led us here.

God, end this momentum.

Still the forwarding world.

Tip us over and lay us down.

Lift us up."
